Hey, this is Pidonus Marasia. I'm trying to figure out my goals and motivations and such a bit while I'm here, because the more I'm reviewing the situation, the more likely it is that it's gonna be quite some time before we find my world and I can return to my Queen. So, I gotta come up with motivations for myself,
I guess? Other than, you know, the dungeons. Which have some very weird loot, to say the least...

Anyways! I'd kinda like to try and get some, well, minions for myself. People willing to let me influence their minds into long-term servitude. Key word there is willing, because as quite a few people here have emphasized, it'd be a mistake for me to just take people's wills with my seductive powers.

Of course, anyone who would voluntarily agree to being under my spell is someone with clear and very severe issues. Like, if your mindstate's bad enough that "under the maniplation of a Succubus" qualifies to your own perception as an improvement... I mean, whatever floats your boat I guess, but I'm pretty sure in some cities that would legally qualify you as 'kind of insane'.

So, uh... What does that leave? I genuinely don't know. I'm. Sorta new to the whole 'need to have my own motivations' thing, and the Chaotic and Evil subtypes unto themselves don't do a lot for giving me ideas.

If they're willing to serve you anyway, wouldn't the mental influence be kinda redundant? I mean, Almighty Leader just gathered up a bunch of villains who were on board with the whole 'conquer Movieland' thing and keeps everyone in check through them knowing it would be a poor short-term investment to disobey him.

Then again, I guess collecting minions that way depends on knowing what your goal is...

Mmm. You might have a point, but for me, since I don't have a higher goal, the rush of knowing I have someone under my spell's the point as much as anything else.

I mean, I could probably put it to actual use somehow, but honestly, just being able to mess with people, maybe prod their inhibitions some and such, is plenty in the short term? People here seem trusting enough that my song worked while fighting the gull, and that's with the majority of them knowing my nature since I've been actively avoiding hiding it. Which honestly is really weird unto itself.

Honestly, you are not wrong. I'm mentally afloat in a situation that has zero relation to anything I've been trained or taught for previously, and have barely had time to learn my kind's inherent culture and the like because my Queen put me to work the moment I was formed. So I'm literally just going with 'okay, did it feel good when I did this' to guess my way through being a Succubus, then controlling for 'what do I do to avoid getting killed for doing it'.

You put that together, and this post's my first conclusion that has an internally complete attempt at logic to it.

The problem, I think, is that you're attacking the question from the wrong angle. Motivation is not what you do; it's what you desire.

... Is a really good question? The thing I most desired besides said approval I already got, and it was nice and all, but I'd really rather not hate a specific inidividual so much that revenge is the only motivation I have again, you know? It wasn't healthy when I did that the first time, making it a normal pattern would just be really screwed up. I think.

No, I would certainly agree to that. It's exhausting as motivations go.

So right now, the thing that'd be the coolest to have is a small team of cute minions. And I'll work... Uh, I dunno if 'up' is the word, but something, from there.

If you're looking to build a power base, what purpose you'd use it for might be a good start on approaching the matter is your motivations.

I can't deny that messing with people is fun. Some of the faces my rival makes when I catch him off guard...classic.

Sounds kinda like you're looking at a current goal of 'avoid getting bored' to me.

May I ask a question? I'm curious whether you'd like to have people under your command because it's something that appeals to you, or simply because it's how your Queen functions and you're using her as a role model.

... I honestly don't know that I have a higher motivation? I don't want to run some vast organization like my Queen or have to rule an entire layer of the Abyss, so not too many people, that's for sure..

More column 'A' than 'B'. My Queen runs a vast organization that is almost entirely Succubi, towards ends centered on more power, so, much more grandiose than my desires.

My Queen ends up too busy to do a lot for the individuals under her command, so... Not that I don't think? I'm not on her level anyways...

Large groups aren't necessarily better, anyway.

I suppose that brings us to a question of why you want minions. Whether it's because you want someone to do things for you, or simply because you enjoy the idea of having people's unwavering loyalty. Power for its own sake is quite open ended, after all. You'll never have the satisfaction of completing a goal if it's something so vague as 'to have as much of this as I can'.

Hey, nothing wrong with not wanting to be bored. It's why I do half the things I do when I'm not working on getting the hero ready to fight me.

People to do what I say is nice, the sensation of having that power is really nice. I suspect that the second one comes with being a Succubus, so...

Jadow doesn't have any villainous rivals, so there's really nobody to manipulate him into fighting for us. Heh, not that it wasn't hilarious when Fire Leo came running back with his mane extinguished by a watering can, but it's kind of a nuisance when I get yelled at for my poor teamwork skills.

Mostly, though, I just point him in the direction that's likely to make him more worth my time and throw the occasional test at him while he runs around in idiotic circles. He's not exactly the brightest, but he's a talented fighter with his heart in the right place, and that's all that matters to me.

Even humans tend to enjoy the idea of people being willing to do things for them, unless they're selfless to a not entirely healthy degree.

[Looking at you, Akira, and your habit of doing everything you can for other people and then refusing to let them go out of their way to help you back.]

People are generally more willing to help others when they consider the person a friend or they stand to gain something from it. The best way to get a group under your leadership is to be working towards something they also want. For example, the Phantom Thieves back home look to Akira as our leader because he's made it a mission to fight back against the sort of law evading corruption that's hurt all of us, in some way or another.
