Okay, I've got a problem. To anyone who didn't already know, if this thing goes completely dark, I turn into a literal monster. To stop it, I need these- [at which she holds up Elsa Maria's Grief Seed] but I've only got the one. Problem is, this one's almost full. If I use it again, it's going to hatch into a monster itself.

Anybody got any suggestions for what I can do here? Because I am officially desperate.

Come on in, I haven't been here long so I haven't managed to mess the place up yet.

Yeah, here.

[Kyoko holds out her Soul Gem... And something about it is fundamentally different from the last time Kana saw it.]

[Hm...what is it, aside from the blackness?]

[The darkness itself seems different. Less wild, less malevolent. More purposed. It's almost as if she were already part of the Law of Cycles, but only almost.]

Eh...?!

[This is...hm. Kyoko had not been accepted into the Law of Cycles in the universe. At least - not yet.]

How very strange...Sakura-san, may I ask you a question while I do this?

[Her true hands may have been gone, but, the rest of her body can surely still absorb the darkness. She just has to concentrate.]

Yeah, sure. What's up?

[The darkness drains, but it changes once it leaves her Soul Gem into the normal taint.]

[As the taint leaves the Soul Gem and enters into her, she flickers, her form becoming a starry silhouette for a second, before coming back.]

May I ask what you last remember before you arrived here?

...Wha?! Oh, right.

[That was really distracting!]

The last thing I remember is... the final blow against Sayaka's Witch.

Hm, that...ah.

[By this time, Kyouko's Gem should be clean.]

That's right. You're from the previous universe, so you'd already been 'erased' from existence when you died. That might be an explanation as to why the stains on your soul didn't look like they normally would in your Soul Gem.

Unless something else has happened here that I wouldn't know about, but...

Why would me being from a different universe change anything? And can I just say that it's pretty disturbing to be told you were erased from existence?

[With the last of the taint gone, so is the sense of something being different. It's now just an ordinary Soul Gem.]

That's...kind of what happened after you died, though...but, well, being from a different universe can be important! There are always subtle differences in some way!

Yeah, but I thought Madoka-chan just changed what happened when Soul Gems got full, not how it happened.

[cyclicalconcept]

It was a little more complicated than that, actually. Kaname Madoka also changed the balance of despair manifestation, and the efficiency of how energy is collected by the Incubator race.

But, I was more referring to the subtle differences between universes that aren't so drastic, especially since the prior universes that she traveled to were connected, and then restarted with Madoka's wish, effectively erasing their history...like, Sayaka's wish.

Sometimes Kamijou-san played violin, but sometimes he played guitar. That kind of difference.

Okay, I think I got that. There were a lot of little differences between universes, so this might be one of them.
