And now that we seem to have largely settled issues of forgiveness, morality, and the like for the time being, here's a different philosophical pondering:

What does "love" mean to you?

As an aside, for any of you who have confessed an interest in cooking lessons (or who simply want to eat something that isn't from a can), I'll be making pasta in the eastern kitchen in an hour or so, provided that nothing too terrible has happened over there recently.

romantic, familial, or amiable?

there's a difference, subtle as it might be in the sentiment

stars above you're infuriating

the common thread between them so far as i have been able to figure out is that loving someone makes you want to be better for their sake. love is understanding and patience, standing with someone when they aren't at their best and being there to guide them if they should falter. to see their best self even when they infuriate you, and refusing to turn away from them even when you inevitably argue.

more than that, loving someone means wanting to be a better person for them in turn. not so far as to think of it as 'being someone worth caring about', but 'someone who cares for them as they deserve'.

but it doesn't mean you failed to have a specific example in mind. how am i supposed to know, i'm not psychic

but heavens forbid you want a specific answer, that would be easy.

it doesn't

it's always this massive immaterial thing, seeming larger than any human body can contain and powerful enough to break one apart from the inside out

that's something i can't help you with

have to learn it through experience. i'm still figuring it out myself.

When you care enough to protect someone or something. And help them. Even if they'll never like or understand you. When you see something important in them. Even if they don't see it in themselves. Or want others to see it. And when you work hard to make both of you happy.

...Also when you know they're joking about both of you selling panties to fans on eRay. Probably.

[The typing in the response is...slow, hesitant.]

I've heard someone call love the pinnacle of human emotions. Greater than hope and deeper than despair. But I don't know. I don't know if you can just say love is something that's just on its own?

I guess it's a little terrifying to me right now.

and i've not had one for all that long, in the larger sense of time and its progression

despite what you may think, this is actually me trying to help and offer advice

For me? A fascinating concept. A crimson watershed for those who experience it.
