What does "love" mean to you?

As an aside, for any of you who have confessed an interest in cooking lessons (or who simply want to eat something that isn't from a can), I'll be making pasta in the eastern kitchen in an hour or so, provided that nothing too terrible has happened over there recently.

the common thread between them so far as i have been able to figure out is that loving someone makes you want to be better for their sake. love is understanding and patience, standing with someone when they aren't at their best and being there to guide them if they should falter. to see their best self even when they infuriate you, and refusing to turn away from them even when you inevitably argue.

more than that, loving someone means wanting to be a better person for them in turn. not so far as to think of it as 'being someone worth caring about', but 'someone who cares for them as they deserve'.

I wanted people's honest answers. That means not biasing the question, in any direction.

but it doesn't mean you failed to have a specific example in mind. how am i supposed to know, i'm not psychic

but heavens forbid you want a specific answer, that would be easy.

When you care enough to protect someone or something. And help them. Even if they'll never like or understand you. When you see something important in them. Even if they don't see it in themselves. Or want others to see it. And when you work hard to make both of you happy.

...Also when you know they're joking about both of you selling panties to fans on eRay. Probably.

I've heard someone call love the pinnacle of human emotions. Greater than hope and deeper than despair. But I don't know. I don't know if you can just say love is something that's just on its own?

I guess it's a little terrifying to me right now.

I don't have the kind of support network you do, Ardyn. Having one at all is still very new for me. You're much further along in sorting all of these things out than I am. I jumped off a cliff right after the starting line and I'm still making sense of the fall, much less how to move forward.

I don't expect the answers to be easy. I know that I'll need build them myself.

But getting a few tools for the matter isn't going to hurt, and that's what I'm trying to do.
