What does "love" mean to you?

As an aside, for any of you who have confessed an interest in cooking lessons (or who simply want to eat something that isn't from a can), I'll be making pasta in the eastern kitchen in an hour or so, provided that nothing too terrible has happened over there recently.

He's also still setting up ingredients at the moment, but we can disregard that. Still, it's that a bottle of wine on the table?]

It depends on what you consider fancy? I was leaning towards a wine sauce, but I know that's not to everyone's taste. Spaghetti was the backup plan.

If you're making a sauce from scratch, then yeah, that's above and beyond the Prompto tier of fancy. Sometimes I wouldn't even splurge on the jarred stuff.

Technically, it's 'Lucis Caelum,' just Caelum used to be reserved for branch families not in the line, but I prefer 'Izunia' anyway.

Less confusing that way with so many of us around. I've been well enough; you?

the common thread between them so far as i have been able to figure out is that loving someone makes you want to be better for their sake. love is understanding and patience, standing with someone when they aren't at their best and being there to guide them if they should falter. to see their best self even when they infuriate you, and refusing to turn away from them even when you inevitably argue.

more than that, loving someone means wanting to be a better person for them in turn. not so far as to think of it as 'being someone worth caring about', but 'someone who cares for them as they deserve'.

I wanted people's honest answers. That means not biasing the question, in any direction.

When you care enough to protect someone or something. And help them. Even if they'll never like or understand you. When you see something important in them. Even if they don't see it in themselves. Or want others to see it. And when you work hard to make both of you happy.

...Also when you know they're joking about both of you selling panties to fans on eRay. Probably.

I've heard someone call love the pinnacle of human emotions. Greater than hope and deeper than despair. But I don't know. I don't know if you can just say love is something that's just on its own?

I guess it's a little terrifying to me right now.

I have only ever found hope or despair because of love. It is without doubt a thing that can exist independent of anything else, in my experience.

Which is probably not terribly comforting.

It is very much like that, at times. Love can drive people to do terrible things - for those they want to protect, or those they fail to protect.

personally i define love as giving a shit enough to not even think twice about putting someone else's needs before your own but that's just me

and idk a lot of people make it out to be some big powerful dramatic emotion but

Love's a risk. It's giving another person the privilege of writing things into your story, and you have no real guarantee they'll return the favor. Even when you come through it and let it fade and find yourself no more than acquaintances, love has the potential to change a person more profoundly than almost anything I've encountered on or under the earth - and it's the motivation behind seeking most of the others.

(There's a terrible hunger that motivates Seeking other things, but I don't find I'm qualified to speak on that.)

Which isn't to say that every love changes the core of who you are. Many turn out to be little more than pleasant dalliances, or minor mistakes. It's only that any love can change you, and it's very difficult to say which will until you're in the midst of it.
