Look!
[Without further preamble, Prompto holds his phone camera back to show what he's got cradled in the crook of his other arm: an egg that looks bigger than a chicken itself, so he for sure didn't get it from inside the station.]
It's a chocobo egg! Chocobo, I just know it! And I did the trick with the shell and the light and there's a baby inside, it's alive!
[He sets the phone down standing up and hugs the egg carefully and happily to his chest, grinning fit to split his face.]
I'm gonna be the best. Chocomom. Ever! I gotta introduce them to the girls downstairs, catch me there if you wanna say hi to baby in person!
[And for those who prefer more action-based interaction, Prompto will, in fact, be in the floor 2 chicken room, his egg held protectively in his lap with an arm always around it while he feeds and chatters to the chickens.
He's also taped a note to the chicken room door:]
ADOPT A CHICKEN!
Chickens are cute and don't grow very big, unlike basilisks and cockatrices. We lay the eggs you eat for breakfast and cook with! So please don't think about cooking us! We love you! Give us names and love us, too!

[She has picked on up, turning it over. She brings it up to her face, examining it.]
If this should mature into something, it would be very small indeed.

[Says the guy wrapped around an egg of his own.]

[She puts it back where it was.]
And this is its forge.

[The juxtaposition of eggs and forges is an uncomfortable one. Something so delicate and vulnerable doesn't belong with all that fire and hammering and noise.]
It's a living creature, you know? Not a... a spore.

[She turns to face him.]
That is what they call the beginning for a soul, when it is first created. Like a spore, it may settle, and when it does, bloom into almost anything.

That makes it sound like souls aren't something that, like, come from inside. Like they float around and attach to things.

[She looks bemused.]
It is the body that comes long after the soul. From one place all souls emerge, and when it gets to where its meant to go, it will eventually turn into what its meant to be in the body. Each according to its place - no more, no less.
That isn't how it is where you come from?

[He finally glances down and away from her, scratching the back of his head.]
I guess I never really got sat down to learn about, like, souls and spirituality and stuff. ...And I don't know how much what I would've been taught would be accurate to how it works, anyway. Our religion seems to have a lot of stuff wrong.

[She folds her arms.]
The Far Country is hardly full of fat babies tooting trumpets, for one.

[Not all human planets share Judeo-Christian-Muslim imagery, and that's okay!]

[Staying forever meant, well, dying for real.]

[He's so confused.]
