[Without further preamble, Prompto holds his phone camera back to show what he's got cradled in the crook of his other arm: an egg that looks bigger than a chicken itself, so he for sure didn't get it from inside the station.]

It's a chocobo egg! Chocobo, I just know it! And I did the trick with the shell and the light and there's a baby inside, it's alive!

[He sets the phone down standing up and hugs the egg carefully and happily to his chest, grinning fit to split his face.]

I'm gonna be the best. Chocomom. Ever! I gotta introduce them to the girls downstairs, catch me there if you wanna say hi to baby in person!

[And for those who prefer more action-based interaction, Prompto will, in fact, be in the floor 2 chicken room, his egg held protectively in his lap with an arm always around it while he feeds and chatters to the chickens.

He's also taped a note to the chicken room door:]

ADOPT A CHICKEN!

Chickens are cute and don't grow very big, unlike basilisks and cockatrices. We lay the eggs you eat for breakfast and cook with! So please don't think about cooking us! We love you! Give us names and love us, too!

Mm, I probably put it in the Armiger with all the rest of my stuff from the beach trip, anyway, dude. So it's yours.

[He's quiet for a moment, then breathes out, content.]

Anyway, this is relaxing. Just... hanging out. I missed doing this with you.

[ He smiles, poking Prompto's forehead. ]

Don't go getting sappy on me. [ He pauses, though. ] I missed it, too. It's been too long since we could just... chill.

Way too long. [It's said with feeling.] I just wish Gladio and Iggy were here to enjoy it, too. Man, if anybody needs a vacation, it's the four of us.

No kidding. Man... and to think, we thought we were just going on a road trip to Altissia.

[ He sighs heavily. ]

How'd we end up in such a damn mess?

Mmm. Because of jerks, mostly.

[After a pause, Prompto reaches up to pat Noct's arm.]

I'm glad you're here.

[And not there. Not back in the dark with the Scourge and the Crystal and Ardyn.]

... I'm glad you're here, too.

[ More than he could ever put into words. Noctis ruffles Prompto's hair lightly. ]

You're my best friend, you know that? You never cared that I was the prince. That always meant a lot.

...Yeah, well. You never cared about the stuff that bothered me, either, right? So we're even, buddy.

[He settles again and wraps his arms back around his egg.]

Even if you are messing up my hair.

[ He snorts. ]

You can fix it later. Like it's not gonna get all messy from you sleeping.

You really don't mind? If I conk out on you, I mean. I wasn't actually planning to snooze, but...

[With Noct here, he feels safe in a way he hasn't felt since... well, who knows how long it's been? Since the Rite of Leviathan, maybe.]

Nah, I don't mind. I can't be blamed if you end up covered in feathers, though.

[ Like that'd actually happen. Prompto might be sworn to protect Noct, but Noctis would protect him just the same. ]

The feathers are a sign that the girls love me and appreciate everything I do for them. They're presents. Presents for Prompto.

[You keep telling yourself that, honey.]

But, okay, if you're sure. [He yawns widely and only remembers to cover it halfway through.] Night, Noct. Wake me up before your leg falls asleep or something.

Sure they do. Or they just saw you as the perfect target.

[ He nods and... this is really nice. Really, really nice. Noct feels at ease for the first time in a while. ]
