Hello, everyone! My apologies for not introducing myself sooner. My name is Strange, and I serve as the station's medical officer.

[This, presumably, would explain why they were RATHER BUSY in the aftermath of the Fissure expedition. Cough, cough.]

And on that note, I'd like it if everyone could stop by the medical lab for a moment or two, when you have the chance. I just want to do a check to ensure that no one's suffering any ill effects from the Fissure. There will be nothing invasive or nasty, I promise.

I'd also like to speak to Noctis, if you have time available.

[This is the point where a human doctor would pull out a clipboard or something, probably but Strange just keeps their notes on their hard drive it's fine.]

You're one of the ones who isn't human in the first place, correct? Is there anything in particular I should know?

[She'll have her wings out for this, probably to make it easier.]

There shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary, I think.

Well, ordinary can have a very different meaning for different worlds.

[Strange smiles, and their hands starts to glow as they pass it over Aya, like one of those airport scanner wands.]

Oh, certainly.

[What's an airport, again?]

...I can't tell what that's supposed to be doing.

It's a magical scan, I just need to get it close enough to register.

I thought that kind of thing was more difficult than you make it look. Doctor Yagokoro back home might be able to accomplish something like that, but she's really hard to get to.

Then again, I haven't been a patient of hers, just an interviewer.

Well, analytical magic is something of a talent of mine. Everyone has their strengths, after all.

[A pause, and with a hum, the glow drops away from their hand.]

Nothing to be worried about, I think. A bit higher resting heartrate than a human, but that's at least logical given your avian aspects.

Oh, of course. I'm familiar enough with the Gensokyo Chronicles to know that much; the whole point of the work is to catalogue important or dangerous humans and youkai, which includes their specialties.

[She has her own entry, in fact.]

That sounds good... though I wouldn't have expected the heart thing.

Each of my siblings has a different specialty, though some of them are more useful than others.

Oh, that's right... you didn't have anyone here to examine before we showed up.

[She's still a little weird at how hard the androids' tone of voice is to read.]

...unless you're just as good at doing these examinations on yourself and your siblings, too, but that doesn't seem accurate.

Well, not for some decades, anyway. There were humans here at one point, after all - it's not as though we just sprang out of the air.

[There's a soft smile, at least.]

A few decades isn't that long of a time, all things considered.

[And yet she doesn't remember much of anything that happened more than like 20 years ago.]

You have no idea where they went, though? I suppose it's possible that they disappeared the same way we got here... but if it's been all that time, they're going to be a lot older and maybe dead.

Oh, no, we generally know where they are. They're just in a magical stasis sleep to avoid the worst effects of Fissure exposure. We're somewhat hardier in that regard.

Oh.

[Somehow this is disappointing.]

So depending on how long this goes... we might be in for something rough.

It's hard to say for sure. It affected the children the most, and there aren't any of you who fit that description, at least... And that was before there were any means of stabilizing the Fissures in the slightest.
