In my world, there was a method of therapy being tested that was creating happier memories to replace traumatic ones. I don't know enough to say it works, but… the idea is to find a new thing to care about that's not what happened between you. In a way, focusing on your hurt and anger… still gives them the power to hurt you even if they're not doing anything anymore.

You don't have to go to that person and say “I forgive you”. But you're more than what people have done to hurt you. If you can build a new life that doesn't care about that person or what he's done… you could be happier. That's what I think.
