[Without further preamble, Prompto holds his phone camera back to show what he's got cradled in the crook of his other arm: an egg that looks bigger than a chicken itself, so he for sure didn't get it from inside the station.]

It's a chocobo egg! Chocobo, I just know it! And I did the trick with the shell and the light and there's a baby inside, it's alive!

[He sets the phone down standing up and hugs the egg carefully and happily to his chest, grinning fit to split his face.]

I'm gonna be the best. Chocomom. Ever! I gotta introduce them to the girls downstairs, catch me there if you wanna say hi to baby in person!

[And for those who prefer more action-based interaction, Prompto will, in fact, be in the floor 2 chicken room, his egg held protectively in his lap with an arm always around it while he feeds and chatters to the chickens.

He's also taped a note to the chicken room door:]

ADOPT A CHICKEN!

Chickens are cute and don't grow very big, unlike basilisks and cockatrices. We lay the eggs you eat for breakfast and cook with! So please don't think about cooking us! We love you! Give us names and love us, too!

You're a kid! [Prompto elbows him, cackling good-naturedly.] Hey, if I was here for a month before you, I'm, like, practically almost caught up to you. Soon you'll be eating my dust!

[ He huffs and pushes his head a little. He makes sure to mind the egg. ]

Eat your dust? You sure you can move that fast, old man?

[Still laughing, Prompto throws his arm around Noct's shoulders so that now, whichever way either of them pushes, they go together.]

Pretty sure I can move faster than you, Mr. Nap Every Two Hours!

[nightcure]

[ And that gets him to laugh, even as he lets out a little yelp and falls over. ]

Yeah? You wanna go? Running on the beach with Gladio is way tougher than beating you in a race!

[Prompto has an egg to protect and so doesn't fall. Haha, sucker.]

Oh yeah, you think? Who do you think runs with Gladio when he can't wake you up, sleepyhead?

[Time to MERCILESSLY POKE THE FALLEN!]

[ BETRAYAL. Noct squirms a little and rights himself before jabbing Prompto in the side. ]

Hey, I gotta get my beauty sleep, you giant nerd. Give a prince a break!

[Squeaking, Prompto wraps himself back around his egg and tries to lean away, even though his mouth doesn't seem to have gotten the message about self-preservation.]

Is beauty sleep really gonna help with your face?!

[See, it works on two levels: 1) mean boy banter and 2) Noct's face is already so beautiful, how can sleeping any improve it?]

Wow, you talk that way to your best friend? You're the rudest person in this whole place.

We can't all be kings and princes and... legendary ghosts and stuff! [He didn't actually understand most of Astolfo's origin story as explained to him like three test drives ago.] Anyway, since when did you care about manners?

[ He grins a little and punches him lightly in the shoulder. ]

If it means I can mess with you? It's the most important thing.

[But Prompto happily leans on him again.]

Why would I be jealous of all that fussy Ignis stuff when being an unsophisticated plebe means I can throw chicken food in your hair?

[Which he doesn't... yet. (He wouldn't. Chickens can be mean when it comes to food. Poor Violet.)]

[ He nudges Prompto a little. ]

Dude. Would you really mess up my hair like that? And possibly put me in danger of being pecked to hell and back?

Hair, yes. Pecking, ehhhhhhh... guess not. Since I'm supposed to protect you and all.

[Nudges him back.]

But it'd be really funny to watch you run away from a bunch of hungry, miniaturized chickatrices. You're lucky I like you and wouldn't think of it as some kind of Gladio-an training exercise. I'd never do that to you.

Pffft. I'd just warp away from them. Not a huge challenge there.

[ He grins a little. Honestly... this is really nice. Just hanging out with Prompto again, like the old days when they used to chill in Noct's apartment and play games all day. ]

I kinda like you too. And not putting me through training from hell? My hero.

I know. I'm like, basically the best.

[Abruptly, he stops leaning on Noct and slides down to prop his skull on Noct's leg instead, resting his egg on his tummy and getting comfortable on the floor of the chicken room.]

Okay, my nap time now. Mothers-to-be need lots of rest.

[It might be more convincing if he'd close his eyes, but he's smiling and drawing his finger idly over the eggshell instead.]

I mean, I guess. Don't let your head get too big.

[ Huh. This is actually pretty nice. Noct ruffles his hair a little bit. ]

Asleep in the chicken room. Man, you're gonna reek when we get out of here.

I know.

[And he sounds super happy about how bad he's going to smell.]

It reminds me of Wiz's place. Except, like. Worse, kind of, since we're inside. But otherwise it's similar, you know?

Yeah, now that you mention it. At least these guys are safe, but... I almost kinda miss being outside most of the time.

[ He pushes a bit of Prompto's hair away from his face. ]

It's not that bad, though.

[ He's not alone. ]

[Oh. Prompto blinks, then tilts his head up more to look at Noct.]

We can go outside more if you want. Especially now that we stabilized most of what's right around the station. It was kind of scary before.

...But there aren't any daemons or anything out there.

Huh. Yeah, I'd like that. Beats staying inside all day.

You can go fishing. I made you a fishing rod. Oh, but you probably still have yours, I'm sure that'll work better.

[ He blinks, then grins. ]

Aww. Did you miss me that much?

Pffft. [Prompto reaches up lazily to not-even-really swat at him.] Well, it was mine first. But then fishing was even more boring doing it myself. So you can have it!
